Women with Children Program
Since it’s founding in 1924 by the Sisters of Mercy, Misericordia has been dedicated to the empowerment of women through education and to providing educational opportunities for those who would otherwise not have access. The Women with Children Program is a natural extension of this mission.
Misericordia launched Women with Children in 2000, after surveys of surrounding counties illustrated that a high percentage of single mothers and their children were living in poverty, with little chance of improving their situations due to lack of any education beyond high school or the failure to complete degree requirements prior to becoming mothers. As the economy has weakened in the last few years, earning a college degree is essential for these women to achieve career advancement in an increasingly competitive job market.
Your gift to the Women with Children Program will help us continue to educate single mothers while providing a brighter future for their children.
